Trillium Magnifying Glass Locket, adorned with a verdant green peridot, and sitting upon a bed of etched cursive, inspired by vintage natural history prints. When closed, the glass magnifies the miniature forest scene. Swivel it open to use the magnifier for your own purposes. The sides of this locket are created with fused silver dust, I often call this pattern stardust but it also is reminiscent of the detritus of the forest floor. The back features a cast hawthorn swirl and my signature Rumination tag.
Comes with an oxidized 24" sterling silver chain and handmade clasp. The pendant is 1.75" long and just under 1.25" wide. The clasp that opens the locket is handmade, please be sure to handle with care.
The secret writing in the background is from an antique letter written in cursive; parts of the letter were etched into silver. Most of the letter cannot be deciphered, except for a date of 1st Mar 1890.
All cast thorns, twigs and other nature bits are collected near my home in Appalachia and cast in small batches in my home studio. These pieces of nature are immortalized in silver.
The Trillium flower: an Appalachian favorite, an indicator of the coming Spring. Known for its 3 petaled flower, 3 green sepals(a part of the flower bud), and 3 distinctive leaves. It is delicate; one cannot pick the flower without damaging the sepals, which is how they reproduce. A flower to be appreciated in its own habitat.
